Residence and work permits: what to prepare before you apply
Most rejected applications fail on paperwork, not on eligibility.
Residence and work permit applications in Türkiye are largely document-driven. Applications are usually refused not because of the applicant's situation but because the file was incomplete or internally inconsistent.
A work permit application is filed by the employing company, which must meet certain conditions: paid-in capital, turnover or export thresholds, and an employment ratio of Turkish nationals. Applying before those conditions are met is risky from the start.
For applications made from abroad, there is a ten-working-day link between the consular appointment and the electronic application to the Ministry. Miss that window and the file goes nowhere.
Foreign documents need an apostille and a sworn translation. A diploma or marriage certificate without an apostille is the single most common reason a file comes back.
For residence permits, the declared address must match where the applicant actually lives. Address checks are carried out, and a mismatch can lead to cancellation.
